APRIL THEME IS "WHY NOT"

This month’s StorySLAM theme is one of our most zealous since we first gathered to share true stories in 2018. Inspired by the unpredictable things that can happen when one purposefully seeks discomfort by saying “YES! - WHY NOT?,” we want to inspire you to come and listen April 25th or enter our StorySLAM competition and share your own WHY NOT story.

You’ve probably seen WHY NOT graffiti sprayed around town in Zurich. The surprising backstory to this meme, born in 2015 by 3 ex-pats on a whim, proves it really does pay to seek discomfort by saying YES to exit one’s comfort zone and try something wild and new. If you’ve been waiting for an occasion with the perfect theme to participate in a StorySLAM, this is it.

Anyone is welcome to add their name to our story-sorting hat for a chance to tell a 5-min personal story on our little big L200 stage and feel the love of our hometown audience. But we are also chuffed the following storytellers who have previously delighted us will be on stage:

A SIMPLIFIED GUIDE FOR DESIGNING YOUR STORY

Define a character (probably yourself;-) How were you feeling at that moment? Confident, lonely, conflicted, anxious, stressed, in lust or love?
Where are you? Home, work, sunset, on the street, hotel, hiking in the mountains?
What’s at stake? Career, security, peace of mind, redemption, future happiness?
What was the crisis or conflict that triggered that moment for you?
How did it work out? Did it make you happy, joyful, and peaceful or are you sad, resentful, and filled with remorse? Bring us full circle and share your beautiful truth as you are now.

* Tickets CHF20 on Eventfrog. Tickets sale at the door subject to availability. Cash or TWINT.

** StorySLAM stories are to be under 5 minutes and true, as recalled by the storyteller. Names of those who wish to tell a story are put in the StorySLAM hat and drawn to see who goes first second .. until we run out of time. The night’s best storySLAM is selected by the audience.

Our Location

L200 is our new storytelling event’s main stage. This cool space in the colorful heart of Zurich is run by the non-profit L200 Association, with 100% voluntary work. More than 200 local people and organizations are L200 members using the space for workshops, social events, pop-up shops, exhibitions, courses, film screenings, concerts, promotions, studio, live streaming and more.
